Description: This feature class is the master street centerline data source that is used by the Town of Glastonbury. In April/May 2011 Applied Geographics converted the Town's road shapefiles this single, seamless geodatabase feature class for the Town to maintain the data in a more efficient and organized manner. The Town had two existing data sources for street centerlines. There was a line feature class created previously for the Town’s Road Manager program which linked to a database of tables used for pavement conditions management. This layer had centerlines for all private streets in Town and used an alfa-numeric ID system corresponding to their facility IDs and footage along each street. There was also a working version of another street centerline data layer which had more recently been edited by Engineering to clean up address ranges and some spatial issues. This data did not have all private streets and used a numeric ID system corresponding to the Assessor’s street numbering system. This data also contained highway access ramps and was accurately populated with left/right and from/to address ranges for all segments.Applied Geographics worked with the Town staff to validate and get both data sources to be topologically identical with all centerlines segmented in identical locations. The two layers were then combined while maintaining the source geometry and attributes of the working version and adding in the attributes of the corresponding road manager segments. All private streets that were in the road manager data were also transferred into the new master layer. The final data layer was cleaned up so that unnecessary and duplicate fields were removed and fields were rearranged in an order per the direction of the Town Engineer. Additional fields, such as Ownership, StreetID, and SegmentID were added and populated. The Ownership Type Domain was added and The Road Manager’s ArcStation field was renamed to RMStation. In June - September 2011 Applied Geographics standardized the street centerlines street name attributes to match with the Master Street List developed as part of the Address Points data development project.
