This feature class is the master address data source that is used by the Town of Glastonbury. In June-September 2011 Applied Geographics collected and standardized address lists from sources including the Assessor's real property and personal property lists, the MDC Water Customers list, Manchester Water's customer list, and Northeast Utilities customer list. After standardizing the various imput sources to the US Post Office's naming conventions, the unique street names from all of these sources as well as the Town's street centerlines GIS layer, were condensed into a single master street list. All addresses from the various sources were created as individual points in this feature class. Points were first created from the Town's building footprints and given the address attributes from the joined Assessor's real property table. Then, on parcels without building footprints, points were created at the parcel centroid and also given the address attribute from the joined Assessor's real property table. If a building was visible on the orthophoto base map for these parcels, then the point was moved to the visible building entrance, otherwise it was placed in the center of the visible building or center of the parcel. Finally all other source address lists were compared against the existing points. Addresses that were not yet on the map as a point were added by geocoding the addresses to the Town's street centerlines data. The address point feature class data model was derived from FGDC addressing standard. All address components, like address number, streets name and unit number, are broken up into their individual components to enable maximum flexibility for use. Fields within feature class should be able to accommodate all addresses within the State of Connecticut. |
